A stock location is a representation of a physical warehouse, or other place where stock is physically present.
Your own warehouse should also be part of this.

Each location must be bound to an [[./../Origin|origin]] and have a name. It must also be given a unique code to identify it. Typically this would be related to the Origin, a hypen, then a unique location code - but you can do it however you want to.

There are two tick boxes on a location which are very important.

* Is Local - Sets the location as a "Local" location. Local locations are locations where stock can be shipped from today (i.e your own warehouse should be set as Local, as well as any locations that you drop-ship from).
* Include for availability? - Sets a location as being available to pull stock from. This will cause the stock to be counted for the "Suppliers" column in stock availability data, and also considered as available for "Can be ordered from suppliers for delivery in N working days."

The other field that is important is the "Transit time" (measured in days). This is how long it takes stock to arrive from this warehouse. You should set this to a figure that is representative of the turn-around time on an order to that warehouse. If it takes 3 days to negotiate, and 2 days to arrive, you would set this to 5. If it takes 24 hours to get an order shipped, but takes around 3 months to arrive, you'd set this to 90 (or maybe 91) days.
